ENTIRE PROCESS OF HAVING YOUR WINDOWS REPLACED IS RELATIVELY SIMPLE.
HAVE A SYSTEMATIC APPROACH TO KEEP ON SCHEDULE AND
YOUR PROJECT AS EFFICIENTLY AS POSSIBLE.
||Once the contract is
signed and deposit received, the process starts. Exact measurements are
taken of all windows to be replaced. Most of our projects require
made-to-fit windows, so production times need to be taken into account.
This is why the windows are ordered as quickly as possible. Most windows
take about 2-3 weeks to be manufactured, although it can be longer for
specialty windows or orders during high demand periods. Any windows that
will be moved, enlarged or newly created will require permits from your
town. We can assist you in processing the permit paperwork, including
providing you with any municipally required drawings at no extra charge.
We can also pull the permits directly, however state law requires in
that case we must provide drawings sealed by a licensed architect. We
have architects at our
disposal to handle these requirements, however there are additional
charges. We can also work with your architect if you choose. Actual
permit charges vary from town to town.
Window replacement without
modification to the openings does not require permits.
||When the windows are
ready they will be delivered to the job site and will require a place to
be stored, preferably indoors. A garage or shed works well. An
average house's worth of double hung windows takes up about 30 square
feet of floorspace. We arrange the installation to begin within a
few days of receipt of the windows. If there are only a few windows
being replaced/installed, the windows will be brought with the installer
on the first day of installation.
anywhere from a few hours to a few weeks, depending on the size and
scope of the project. The average single family house takes about 5-7
working days. During this time, the jobsite will be cleaned at the end
of every day and all removed windows/materials and stationary tools will
be discreetly compiled and covered in a designated area on the property
until removed at the end of the project. We strive to disrupt the
interior of the house as little as possible. Minimal dust/debris is
typically limited to the immediate area in front of the window. Clean up
is performed as soon as we have completed the interior stage of
installation in a particular room.
Any projects which required
permits will require inspections. We can make the necessary arrangements
with your municipality to schedule these. Typically, two are needed:
1)to view the new framing and insulation prior to any drywall being
installed and 2)to view the completed job. These inspections are
required by the state to protect you, we will not proceed to the drywall
stage of project until we have passed the framing/insulation inspection.
||Last is the walk
through. All the windows are operated and inspected from the inside
& outside. Operating and cleaning instructions are discussed. Any
rebate forms and/or warranties are distributed. The jobsite is left
clean, more aesthetically pleasing and more energy efficient...Enjoy!
